ABOUT THE INITIATIVE

The National K-12 Remediation Program serves as TCI’s signature program in partnership with selected cities and municipalities within the National Capital Region (NCR). At the conclusion of successful pilots for NCR public schools, the initiative will be expanded into a full-blown, nationwide tutoring program, which will cover hundreds of municipalities and cities from northern to southern part of the Philippines.

Since our founding in 2020, we have reached more than 750 schools, in both the US and the Philippines, providing educators professional development training, impacting thousands of students in the  ongoing pandemic. With our proven-to-work tutoring model and focus on relationship building, we have been able to reach students who need it most and support families, educators, and districts through our services. OUR TEACHER FELLOWS

Our Fellows are selected from a diverse group of individuals from various backgrounds across the Philippines to serve our students as math tutors; each Fellow brings their unique skill set to assist students’ success. We are seeking talented, caring, and capable people committed to supporting our students in their academic and social development. Through this service year opportunity, our Fellows develop leadership skills, participate in professional development workshops, engage in public speaking and much more. This is not only a positive learning experience for our students but for our Fellows as well!

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Tagpros Children’s Math Fellows manage a small caseload of elementary and high school students and promote academic success by focusing intently to provide high-dosage, high-impact tutoring that includes daily individualized instruction to students during their year of service. During a typical school day, Fellows will work in-person and online with students during multiple class periods and facilitate lessons. Fellows will implement Tagpros’s proprietary curriculum to foster academic success and help students reach their goals. In addition to offering academic support, Fellows will serve as advocates and mentors building strong, meaningful relationships with their students. Some of the key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Provide daily math tutoring to your assigned caseload of students for multiple class periods

  • Develop lesson plans and prep for tutoring sessions using Tagpros  Curriculum

  • Manage the input and analysis of student data to differentiate math instruction for your students and adapt lesson plans as needed

  • Maintain attendance records, monitor student academic progress and provide feedback

  • Maintain regular ongoing communication with parents/guardians via email, text, or phone, based on parent/guardian preference and record efforts 

  • Navigate varying technology, both hardware and software, and troubleshoot technical issues as they arise

  • Develop student incentives, trackers, and support with celebrations, awards and recognition

  • Proactively check and respond to emails daily, and regularly consult with the Project Director

  • Participate in weekly observation and feedback sessions with the Project Director and Co-Fellows, as well as weekly reflections and professional development for continuous growth

  • Build strong relationships with students to effectively set expectations and manage behavior

  • Build strong relationships with teachers, other staff and the community

  • Engage and assist with other duties as assigned by your Project  Director and school site leader

QUALIFICATIONS

  • You are age 18 or over with a college degree (new graduates preferred)

  • Articulate for both written and spoken English and Tagalog

  • Sense of nationalism and patriotism

  • Organized, detail-oriented, and flexible
